Sun, 27 Apr 2008 13:01:00 PDT
"We greatly enjoy reading your blog, your advice and insight. You’ve helped us think differently about some things. We’re getting ready to move from Arizona to Oregon and will be selling our home. We’re planning to rent while we evaluate areas to live, and now after reading your recent guest post How to Make Money Without Ownership: Take Advantage of the Housing Slump and some other things, am thinking perhaps it might make sense to rent awhile longer and get a good ‘sale’ price after further

Look Out WhoWhatWearDaily.com!

Expect more “eclectic London-style” outfits from their videos and less of the ”California meets New York chic” type of outfits featured on WhoWhatWearDaily.com. Whilst the presenter may not be as photogenic as the two chicks on WhoWhatWear, she seemed to provide better detailed descriptions of the outfits and the c

The Gulf: There's bad loans arising

Sun, 27 Apr 2008 13:29:21 PDT
Arab News - in Saudi Arabia “The rise in the number of bad debts in the Kingdom is largely because of the lack of prudence on the part of Saudis in general when they invest borrowed money in stock markets without making a scientific analysis of the market trends,” Al-Eqtisadiah daily quoted Abdul Rahman Al-Sultan, an economic expert, as saying. Sultan said the borrowers’ losses in the stock markets made it impossible for them to repay their loans. According to Al-Sultan the value of loan def

Sun, 27 Apr 2008 13:39:34 PDT

Life span, class, gender and race in America

Sun, 27 Apr 2008 11:05:59 PDT
Spurred on by a post on BlogHer by Health editor Catherine Morgan, I read with some dismay that while life expectancy has steadily risen in this country throughout the 20th century, that the trend is actually leveling off and even declining for some in the U.S., since 1983 actually. If this trend has been happening for about 25 years why are we only hearing about it now? Well, the study was only published this past week. I gave the following talk in another ward today: photo credit: { karen } The Pattern of Family In a masterful discourse given at a CES fireside one year ago, Elder Bednar spoke of the various ways we can drink of the living waters we find in the scriptures. He noted three ways we can more fully immerse ourselves in these waters. One way was to observe patterns and themes: In my judgment, diligently searching to discover connections, patterns, and themes is in part what it means to “feast”

Feel the love

Feel the love Via the Australian: Esteem for US rises in Asia ...in a world supposedly awash in anti-US sentiment, pro-American leaders keep winning elections. Germany's Angela Merkel is certainly more pro-American than Gerhard Schroeder, whom she replaced. The same is true of France's Nicolas Sarkozy. More importantly in terms of Green's analysis, the same is also true of South Korea's new President. Lee Myung-bak, elected in a landslide in December, is vastly more pro-American than hi
